Enterprise Start-up Roles in TaupO – Nau Mai Haere Mai
He Tipu is a cultural, social, and environmental venture to accommodate a collection of enterprises on a single site. Of course, it will also need to return a profit to fund its ongoing operations together with grants and investors that continue to be secured. Te Pae o Waimihia secured management over 25 hectares of whenua in 2021 with an aim to make a place to reflect the aspirations of our people. The site is located on the fringe of Taupō township which previously operated the Taupō Native Plant Nursery.
After 12 months of due diligence and priority repairs and maintenance He Tipu is now ready for start-operations. While the site will have a multitude of enterprises the start-up will focus on:
Kai koha – charity food supply through the establishment of large maara kai, hydroponics and a distribution centre.
Native plant nursery – to supply native plants and resources to the local Māori and community projects.
Workforce hub – which will provide the base for on-site workforce as well as a workforce for hire and an innovation hub.
Training centre – providing multiple training rooms and sites to support primary industry trades and careers as well as construction industry and associated professions such as, project management, business, technology and innovation.
To be part of our start-up team you will need to:
Have self-drive, motivation and discipline.
Have initiative and innovation.
Be highly responsible and hard-working.
Be highly independent and resourceful.
Be industrious and pragmatic.
Have a hunger to learn and achieve.
Be able to work as part of a highly efficient and respectful team.
We are looking for people who can work in both the outdoors and indoors; who can lend a hand to practically anything; who understand the need to communicate well, with the capability to report into a highly coordinated start-up schedule. We are looking for people who have an appreciation of our Māori world so that He Tipu reflects a high degree of matauranga Māori, tikanga and our local context. You should be willing to help us build our culture in an authentic way.
We are not necessarily looking for people with all the exact technical skills and experience for our roles as we are willing to provide training for staff. However, sound experience and skills in some of the role requirements will be advantageous. The roles below are available as part of the start-up team, and all roles will commence as 12 month Fixed Term contracts, based at our He Tipu site in Taupō:
